Old houses continued


Here is another batch of old house pictures in Fond du Lac, taken in 1946.

note on the back: Bissel - (Herman); Leonard, son of Herman - saw mills; Harbor master when river was clogged with logs; Deacon Olmstead house?;  Corner Hickory & Western Ave? Francis Altman lives there now?

Back of photo: Amory (square stone) (Sisters of Holy Nativity); John (this house)  Independently rich, father importer, owned Central Park, NY); Learned gunsmith trade; arrived 1849 - banking building; Amory Hall 1856; scene of gaity & entertainment - also farms - St. Agnes.

Back of photo: CJL Meyer- NW corner five points; Mrs. Geo Watson last owner; Mrs Meyer so frugal she is said to have served only apples for an afternoon gathering of women friends.
